Why I got into real estate in Cedar Rapids
The Realtor-client relationship is pretty special. No, seriously... we'll end up talking about your family, career, lifestyle, preferences, and aspirations. We will go through tough negotiations together (counter-offers and inspections can bring out the best in everyone). We will spend afternoons and evenings together, we will talk by phone, text, email and SOS signal... so before you decide to work with me for your home, you should know a little about me.
I grew up in Marion as the oldest of 6 kids. I attended Marion High School, and then went to UNI (go, Panthers!) for my first undergraduate degree in electronic communications. After graduation, I joined the Iowa Army National Guard and served the first of 2 tours in Iraq. When I came back from my first deployment as an officer for a medical unit, I got my second undergraduate degree in film from the University of Iowa (go Hawks!). During that time, I met my future wife (an ISU grad, go Cyclones!) and for the second time, turned away from a film career and life on the West Coast. I did another deployment in Iraq, came home and got married. Then, I went to work putting roots down in the Cedar Rapids area, a community that I love. I organized blood drives for a local non-profit for a few years, bought a house, joined a church, joined Daybreak Rotary, and we had our first child (we now have 2). Today, I focus on my family and supporting this wonderful community.
After my son was born, I realized that my passions for our community, for helping people, and houses had a common direction. I joined Skogman Realty as a licensed broker in 2017, and as they say, the rest is history. I absolutely love what I do.
